Education in emergencies: Strategies to ensure continuity of learning in fragile environments.

The Center for Educational Studies and Research, in collaboration with the National Federation of Parents’ and Students’ Associations and the Municipality of El Mina, organized a scientific symposium entitled:

“Education in Emergencies: Strategies to Ensure the Continuity of Learning in Fragile Contexts, “on Saturday, April 25, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM in the conference hall of the El Mina Municipality in Nouakchott.

This symposium is part of ongoing efforts to promote the right to education under all circumstances, particularly in emergency situations and fragile environments. It aims to analyze the challenges related to maintaining learning continuity during crises, highlight successful national and international experiences in this field, and propose practical strategies to strengthen the resilience of the education system and its capacity for effective response.

By organizing this event at the El Mina Municipality, in partnership with both the municipality and the National Federation of Parents’ Associations of Pupils and Students in Mauritania, the initiative also seeks to strengthen cooperation between educational stakeholders and civil society, and to promote a participatory approach that places learners at the center of efforts to establish sustainable and inclusive education for all.

The symposium concluded with a set of practical recommendations aimed at establishing effective and sustainable mechanisms for community mobilization, supporting ongoing reforms of the national education system, and contributing to the achievement of equity and quality in education. It is worth noting that this symposium is part of the program of the Center for Educational Studies and Research, specifically its monthly program “Discussions on Education in Mauritania,” which aims to strengthen the role of civil society as a key partner in developing the education system and supporting national efforts to improve public schools in Mauritania.
