The Center for Educational Studies and Research, in collaboration with the National Federation of Parents’ and Students’ Associations and the Riyadh Municipality, organized a scientific symposium entitled:
“Civil Society and Education: Towards Sustainable Community Mobilization to Support the Public School,” on Saturday, March 28, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM, in the Riyadh Municipality lecture hall in Nouakchott.
This symposium aimed to foster constructive dialogue among various educational stakeholders and civil society organizations to explore ways to support the public school and strengthen its educational and ethical roles. It also sought to highlight the importance of effective partnerships between families, schools, and local communities in improving the quality of education, reducing school dropout rates, and promoting civic values among young people.
The symposium saw broad participation from educational experts, civil society actors, and representatives of local organizations, featuring scholarly presentations and open discussions on mechanisms for mobilizing the community to support ongoing educational reforms. The symposium concluded with a set of practical recommendations aimed at building effective and sustainable mechanisms for community mobilization, in line with efforts to reform the national education system and contribute to achieving the goals of equity and quality in education.
It is worth noting that this symposium is part of the program of the Center for Educational Studies and Research, specifically its monthly program “Discussions on Education in Mauritania,” which aims to strengthen the role of civil society as a key partner in developing the education system and supporting national efforts to improve public schools in Mauritania.
